There is No Such Thing as Ethical Consumption under Capitalism, but I'm Lazy

One of the more annoying things that I've always hated about lazy activists, ironic isn't it, is that some of them are extremely bad at their activism. Let me explain. Many of these so called "activists" seem to be single minded. Being passionate about a cause is certainly an admirable trait but these people seem to ONLY care about their specific cause. One of the more notable types in the spaces I frequent are LGBTQ+ types that care about "their own" but screw anyone else.

You'll specifically see TERFs and LG(B, technically) that seem to not be very well read on any cause other than the one that concerns their survival. This is specifically weird when their side contains groups that do not like Gay people but we won't venture further into that area. Another annoying type are the Trans Fems/Woman (I should add that I am a Trans Woman) who follow the man-hating feminist types of pretending to care about the gender equality of feminism but fail to understand what Patriarchy means. (What should I expect of people of the internet, they can't even read headlines) Due to their lack of knowledge, or blind hatred of masculinity, they act hostile to trans masc/men and fail to understand the basics of any progressive ideology. Unfortunately being a minority does not make one any more progressive than anyone else.

In another type of progressive are the consumer types. This being the anti-vegan, pro-consumption, and indifference to the harms of Capitalist types. Despite the harms of pollution, climate change, or general inhumane treatment of many workers of production these types still consume these horrible products. I used vague terms to speak on the topics of both veganism and the exploitation of workers. If they like a product they will simply allow themselves to come up with a reason as to why they still buy it.

Some buy Harry Potter media despite its profits being sent to the main figure of transphobia in the United Kingdom, JK Rowling (whose other pen-name Robert Galbraith's first search results bring us to a person who used Gay conversion therapy).

We do not need to ostrasize those who have some flaws so long as they are willing to grow or at least are willing to help causes and not bring harm to others. However it should be the bare minimum to at least do some level of background checking the people you are giving money to. So long as you keep paying them they will continue to harbour their views and bring harm to others. It does not require much effort to just use a different product. With veganism, the goal isn't to completely cut off everything in your life for the cause, your goal is to do the best you can do in your current situation. Are you unable to afford more ethical products; Then just do what you can. Sometimes changing what you consume may be a little hurtful for your mind, but its for the greater good. If it costs you nothing to switch you are simply being a hypocrite. You should not sacrifice the health of others for your own greed.

Understand that sometimes you might need to face your emotions and challenge yourself. It will likely hurt. I know. You may have memories that make this choice difficult. But please, try to help others. We both want a better world, so strive to create it.
